Stephen’s Story

Helping an ambitious student reach their potential (58 hours of tuition)

Stephen* was a Year 11 AQA Higher IGCSE Triple Science student who came to me having achieved 5s and 6s in his science mock exams. As an ambitious student hoping to apply to the University of Oxford, he wanted to strengthen both his subject knowledge and his exam technique to achieve the highest grades possible.

Over four months, we worked across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, focusing on improving his understanding of key concepts, identifying and addressing knowledge gaps and developing the skills needed to tackle challenging exam questions.

By Easter, Stephen’s mock exam results had improved significantly, with him achieving an 8 in Biology and 9s in Chemistry and Physics.

Leah’s Story

Building understanding from foundations up (48 hours of tuition)

Leah* was a Year 11 OCR Foundation GCSE Combined Science student who had been taught remotely since Year 7, came to me after a prolonged period of illness had significantly affected her studies. With only four months until her GCSE exams, Leah had not yet covered any GCSE Chemistry content at all.

Since Leah had a separate Physics tutor, my focus with her was to build her Chemistry knowledge from the ground up while also strengthening her Biology exam technique. We worked systematically through the required content, with carefully planned homework and progress tests to monitor her understanding and identify areas for improvement.

By the end of our time together, Leah was consistently achieving 5s in the Chemistry and Biology past papers she completed, allowing her to go into her exams confident and primed for success.

Ibrahim’s Story

Developing confidence and independent learning skills (98 hours of tuition)

Ibrahim* was a Year 10 Edexcel Higher IGCSE Mathematics and Combined Science student living in the UAE. He was struggling to keep organised and manage the pace of his courses, which was in turn affecting his confidence and preparation for assessments.

Together, we created a structured approach to his learning. This included identifying resources which supported his learning style, improving his revision habits and developing strategies to tackle more difficult questions.

Over the course of the year, Ibrahim’s performance improved significantly and he became a more confident and resilient learning, helping him build the skills needed for success in Year 11 and beyond.
